Welcome to the Irish Hungarian Business Circle website. The aim of the IHBC is to facilitate and develop business and social networks for Irish and Hungarian businesses. We are based in Budapest and most of our activity is therefore concentrated in Hungary. Saying this we very much encourage the building of networks into Ireland also.
Networking
We feel the success of any business association is having a vibrant business and social networking calendar. With this in mind we organise 3 types of events.
Annually, we organise the St Patrick’s Gala dinner (March) and “A Day at the Races” which is at the Hungarian Derby (July). These are two very enjoyable high profile events where everyone gets the chance to dress up and enjoy the special occasion.
Bi-monthly, we organise fireside chats. These take the format of a presentation from one a guest speaker who shares useful information for the business community.
Monthly, we organise an informal “get together” in one of the local Irish pubs.
Business Focus
Having a good networking calendar is one thing and along with that we have clear business goals. We align ourselves to the same business objectives as Enterprise Ireland.
Enterprise Ireland is the Irish government agency responsible for the development and promotion of the indigenous business sector. Their mission is to accelerate the development of world-class Irish companies to achieve strong positions in global markets resulting in increased national and regional prosperity.
With strong links with Enterprise Ireland we aim to help Irish companies succeed by
- Achieving export sales
- Investing in research and innovation
- Competing through productivity
- Starting up & scaling up
- Driving regional enterprise
Corporate Social Responsibility
Often Irish individuals and companies based in Hungary are keen to support their Hungarian local community. We are dedicated to support those individuals in whatever way we can. We have three projects that are on going.
Local charity activities – Once a year we aim to find a local charity that would benefit from our man power. This may involve painting a school or tidying up a local park. It is an excellent way for the Irish community to come together and contribute.
Fund raising – Every so often one of our community decides to take part in some adventure or sport that deserves sponsorship. We can support those individuals with their sponsorship by approaching our corporate and individual members for fund raising initiatives or sponsorship in the cash donation kind. We can also suggest worth while local charities that would benefit from the money raised
Charity Shop - this is a new initiative. At the moment there appers to be no second hand shop whose profits go directly to charity. We are at the beginning of this project and at the moment we are looking for volunteers to run the shop and for shop premises. Watch this space as they say.
The future
We are keen to make the IHBC a central point for all the Irish community and to become emersed in the Hungarian community where we are based. Our objectives and goals are taking us down that road and we have further plans. We would like to see the formation of an annual St Patricks Day parade. These are events that happen accross the world and we feel Budapest should take part also. Our vision is to include local children from the schools and if possible from some hospitals.
