December Hike 2011

IHBC Christmas Hike Normafa Hill, Budapest

Sunday,  4th December 2011

As this will be the last IHBC Hike of the year in to be held in crisp, sub-zero temperatures, we have decided to make this walk shorter, less demanding and more sociable so that families can take part.

We need to collect numbers as soon as possible for restaurant reservations & other details.

This hike will take around 90 minutes covering a distance of 5km or less. On the way will stop for some good winter forralt bor, glogg, gluhwein, mulled wine… and some fun and games.

  • Starting from Széll Kálmán tér at 11:00.
  • Taking the No 61 tram to Városmajor  tér  tram stop, then the Fogaskerekü (Cog train) to the last stop, arriving around 11:45.
  • From here we start our hike to and around Normafa hills making our way to the Normafa  Grill & Café  for 14:00.

Please let us know if you will meet us en-route.

Boots will be needed as it’s been known to snow at this time of year, as is a jacket (hat /gloves), a flask of tea or coffee and snacks.

After lunch we can walk to the local bus service, returning on the rollercoaster bus (21A) ride back to Széll Kálmán tér.  Please note if you don’t have a travel- pass you will need three tickets for the described journey (tram, cog wheel railway & return bus trip).
